FOODS COURSES

THESE COURSES MEET THE APPLIED SKILLS/FINE ARTS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADES 10, 11 AND 12

The Foods Program allows students to explore the various areas of food prepration and nutrition. These courses provide an introduction to the principles of food preparation, basic cooking techniques and nutrition. Management of time, energy and resources, smart consumerism, understanding of food safety and aiming for and recognizing quality in food products are all areas of development. Students will apply their knowledge to the planning, preparing and serving of meats and alternatives, vegetables and fruits, milk products and a wide variety of grain products. Classes will encourage students to make wise

food choices to fit in with their cultural backgrounds, life styles and nutritional needs.
